On May 19, many Americans went all out celebrating Great Britain’s royal wedding of Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and his bride Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex. It was certainly a historical day as we applaud that a woman of color has been loved by royalty and accepted into their family. Their story seems like a true fairytale that we can all find fascination with.
One beautiful portion of their wedding was the sermon speech by Bishop Michael Curry. He spoke boldly about Jesus being a game changer and told us to imagine ways that “love is the way” when we live as He did.

No child would go to bed hungry in such a world as that.
Poverty would become history in such a world as that.
The earth would be as a sanctuary in such a world as that.
We would treat one another as children of God, regardless of differences.
We would learn how to lay our swords and shields down by the riverside to study war no more.
There would be a new heaven, a new earth, a new world. A new and beautiful human family.
The very dream of God.
Love is strong as death.
It’s flashes are flashes of fire.
Many waters cannot quench love.

Let’s take time to celebrate this wonderful moment in our history and know that there is beauty and love even with all the hate we see around us in the headlines. All the news we share with you about injustices of slavery and poverty are truly very real, but because love is the way, we will see an end to those things!  Many lives are being changed every day because of that love.
Thank you to everyone who continues to fight against injustice and stands up for love.

  1. That sermon was truly amazing. It was inspirational, spiritual and motivating all at the same time. The reactions by the celebrity congregation was priceless!
