On Thursday night, Justice Network hosted an event featuring presentations from Michelle Lazor from Trades of Hope and Yesenia Fermin from Bethany Christian Services. The evening concluded with a shopping party.
Michelle shared about the mission of Trades of Hope, which empowers women around the world providing jobs which keep them from being at risk for human trafficking. They also employ HT survivors to create beautiful jewelry, accessories, and home goods. If you would like to purchase items, please click here to visit our party before midnight on May 4th. Your purchase will benefit local survivors of human trafficking.
We also heard from Yesenia about the great work Bethany provides in NJ for foreign born survivors of human trafficking. Yesenia introduced us to Ana and Sulie from Bethany’s Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (TVAP).
Ana and Sulie provide foreign born survivors of human trafficking with client centered and trauma informed services that equip them to leave behind a life of violence. They have a heart for serving, empowering and advocating for survivors of all forms of human trafficking. They assess the needs of the survivors and coordinate services that meet their needs. The survivors receive comprehensive case management services that include safety planning, financial assistance, and help with basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and medical needs. The survivors are also connected to mental health and legal services. Through Bethany’s services, the survivors are able to build a more stable life. The community plays an integral part in ending human trafficking!
Meet Ana or Sulie at one of Bethany’s open house events on either April 30th at 7p.m., May 16th at 10a.m., or June 4th at 5p.m. or contact Bethany’s office at (201) 703-4371 to sign up for a tour, request a human trafficking presentation, or to learn more about the impact that this program is making in NJ and NY.
