UPDATE: SEE THE FOLLOW UP POST OF HOW THIS EVENT WENT, WHO OUR VENDORS WERE, AND PHOTOS FROM THE NIGHT!
Did you know that the majority of the goods we buy or receive may have slavery in its supply chain? Many companies are not even aware of who has been farming what is used in their products. Those people may be paid little to no money to provide for their families, sometimes suffering severe abuse. Many children are also missing out on opportunities for an education because they are doing their best to help their families work as well.
It is important that we ask companies to change how they do their business and to help the “little man” by offering them fair wages and to improve the conditions of an area of poverty in which these goods were obtained from. Fair Trade and sustainable businesses that take care of all their workers is extremely important. Watch this short video to help explain better. We can see an end to slave labor!
We invite you to join us at Justice Rocks! The Solid Rock Band will play great classic rock music and we you can learn more about human trafficking/modern-day slavery, Fair Trade, and current abolition efforts Justice Network has been making. We will have vendors selling their fairly made items like jewelry, clothing, bags, coffee, chocolate, and even free Ben & Jerry’s Fair Trade ice cream! Here are some of the vendors that will be at the event. Bring your friends and family for an exciting night!
Any donations made throughout the night towards Justice Network will be greatly appreciated! This event is also co-sponsored by NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking and High Mountain Church who will be serving Land of A Thousand Hills coffee at their church regularly.
